IAG Strategy - The National IAG Strategy will be launched at an event in Manchester on 26th October. The NCN will also be presenting the strategy at the AoC IAG Conference on the 30th November. The London Work Based Learning Alliance has launched a new Information Advice and Guidance (IAG) Website, funded by the Learning and Skills Council and aims to publicise work based learning opportunities to young people in London by providing detailed information regarding 14-19 provision including Apprenticeships, Entry to Employment and Foundation Learning.

Foundation Learning update - 2009-10 is a crucial year in developing Foundation Learning (FL-the learning suite for 14-19s at entry level and level 1) as all areas should be gearing up for delivery on a 14-19 basis by 2010-11.Two guidance documents have just been published which provide clarity on Foundation Learning including the timeline for implementation: LSC/QCDA guidance on
FL delivery for 14-19s in 2009-10 and DCSF guidance on LAs’ strategic submissions to
Gateway 4 which should set out their planning for FL as well as Diplomas.
Vacancy Trends in Fashion and Textiles Newsletter (September 2009) – This update shows manufacturing vacancies are down significantly, and that the vast majority of vacancies in fashion and design were still in London.
