Delays in processing applications to the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) for funding placements for yp with LDD at independent specialist colleges have been reported by the LSC across all regions. We are unsure of the reasons behind this changed pattern of applications. Local authorities’ help is requested in alleviating the backlog by working with their Connexions Services to improve the flow of funding applications to the LSC. LSC will process applications quickly when they receive them. The level of applications is much lower than previous years and delays are causing much anxiety to young people and their families/carers as well as causing planning difficulties for colleges.
