What is Westfield Stratford City?
Westfield Stratford City is a new shopping centre opening on 13 September 2011. With a total retail floor area of 1,900,000 square feet, it is claimed to be the largest urban shopping centre in Europe. The shopping centre is part of a large development project called Stratford City. It is expected to create up to 8,500 permanent jobs.
 
How will people get there?
Westfield Stratford City is adjacent to the London Olympic Park, Stratford Regional and Stratford International stations. National Rail links include London Overground, which runs from Clapham Junction through Chelsea, Hampstead, Camden and Highbury & Islington on its way to Stratford. Underground rail links include the Jubilee Line that runs through Waterloo and Southwark and the Central Line through Notting Hill, Oxford Circus and Holborn. Stratford is also on the DLR network and Stratford International station is served by Southeastern domestic services.
 
What jobs will there be?
The shopping centre will have approximately 300 stores with a 240,000 sq ft John Lewis department store, a 32,000 sq ft Waitrose supermarket, a 200,000 sq ft Marks and Spencer department store. So expect jobs in retail management, on the shop floor and in stock handling. Restaurants will be looking for chefs, waiting staff and managers. There will also be jobs in a 14-screen cinema, casino, bowling alley and hotels.
 
How do I apply for jobs?
Many stores have started looking for staff for their new branches in Stratford City and others will be recruiting soon. A few will be holding recruitment events but for most you will need to apply online. Those highlighted in yellow are currently recruiting specifically for Stratford City vacancies.

The on-site retail academy will help local people get the training they need to find their first job in retail, leisure and hospitality. At the moment training is only open to local residents referred by Jobcentre Plus or through the following job brokerage services:
