Three quarters of a million more London jobs by 2036
GLA Economics has just published research looking at employment projections for London up to the year 2036. Across London employment is predicted to grow return to 2008 levels (just over four million) by 2015 and grow by a further 637,000 by 2036.
London Employment Projections by Borough (000s)
Looking at the overall employment for the Central London Connexions boroughs, only Wandsworth and Westminster are projected not to have recovered to 2008 levels by 2015.
Between 2015 and 2036 Southwark and Islington are set to see the greatest rise in employment.
Looking at employment by business sector ‘Professional, real estate, scientific and technical activities’ is set to be the fastest growing sector. The other relatively fast growing sectors are ‘Information and communication’ and ‘Administrative and support services’.
