WHY I VOLUNTEER………..

Each month we will feature a different volunteer telling us about what they do and why they think volunteering is so worthwhile.  If you would like to shout about your volunteering experiences please let us know and you can be featured in one of our future bulletins!  Contact your advisor or Laura (laura.owen@volunteercentrewestminster.org.uk)

Claudine Bryan, 17, South London.

Volunteering with the Central London vinvolved Team has been a great experience for me.  It’s given me many opportunities which I couldn’t have done myself.  I registered with the team in September and I have already participated in so much.  There are many different paths on volunteering you can also choose a specific area in where you would like to volunteer like me.  I chose to especially volunteer in a fashion related area and that’s exactly what I have been doing.  I have volunteered at a fashion show, fashion award show, Oxfam retail shop and Fashion Favours.  With each project I do it gives me hands on experience in many different areas of fashion and I can incorporate this into my CV as a skill and interest.  Also volunteering looks very good on Uni applications, they are interested in you doing more than just your college work and this is the most easiest, enjoyable way of upping your experience and knowledge in your free time and the best part of volunteering is that you’re not obligated to do anything, everything is your choice and down to you!
