Dear colleagues,
CEIAG is now central to government policy for educational and economic reform. Two major new policies have been announced – the National Strategy for information, advice and guidance “Quality, Choice and Aspirations” – and the Statutory Guidance for Schools: Impartial Careers Education. Together, these set out the future for excellent CEIAG for all young people and their parents.
These documents clarify the roles for schools, Local Authorities, Connexions, Ofsted and all other partners and show the need for personal tutors, a wider age span, work-related learning including business mentors, more on-line IAG, and increased standards through a task force on the IAG professions and training. Structures will not change, at least for 18 months to 2 years - local authorities are ‘on notice to improve’ by then.
Also announced, is the January Guarantee – providing every 16 and year old who is not in education, employment or training in January 2010 with an offer of an e2e place and an EMA.
Lots to round off a successful year and provide our focus for 2010!
Meanwhile – seasons greetings!
