Key national CEIAG updates

Update on documents to help you meet the national standards for CEG & IAG:

Programmes of Study Key Stages 3 and 4
Programmes of Study for Economic Wellbeing and Personal Wellbeing (published Sept 08). Download these here to check how your provision meets the key concepts and processes.

Economic Wellbeing Framework 11-19
These are supported by a framework for Economic Wellbeing, download it from www.cegnet.co.uk.  This is a useful framework to follow in preparation for Ofsted inspections and is useful to map your economic wellbeing provision against.

The national framework for careers education and guidance sets out in more detail how CEG provision should be delivered.

Introducing statutory guidance for impartial careers education
The DCSF consultation has closed and the final version is expected to be introduced in the Autumn term, including the Principles and an updated framework of Careers Education. Watch this space!

IAG National Standards
Schools should take note of the national standards for IAG. An easy way to access the standards is here.  Nationally one of the weaker standards has been 5.5 challenging stereotyping; this is expected to feature in the forthcoming principles for careers education.  Use the CLC stereotyping challenging resources 09-10 factsheet to support this in your school!

Ways and Choices Classroom Resources
An excellent collection of 10 lesson plans, mapped against all the relevant frameworks to support students with decision making at key option stages to challenging stereotypes. Available in hard copy or CD Rom.  If you haven’t seen these yet download them from www.cegnet.co.uk

The latest useful resources

STEM
Recent research highlights the shortfall in the number of people choosing to study Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) subjects, as well as the need to double the supply of skilled workers in STEM-related jobs in the next seven to ten years. This directly affects your current students. Help them find out more by using the ready made lesson plans and activities available at www.cegnet.co.uk or available to order in hard copy via teachernet.
