Welcome to the
August 2010

It’s not long now until August exam results - 19th for AS/A Levels and some other level 3 courses, and 24th for GCSEs and some other level 2s. Choice will point you clearly to careers information, courses and enrolment dates, and Choice Jobs similarly for apprenticeships and jobs with (or without) training. The Activity Agreement still have a few places for young people who need more time to prepare for learning or work.

Care To Learn applications, however, continue to drop. DfE are keen to know if any changes are needed to increase the popularity of the programme. If it is not well used, it could be withdrawn in the October Spending Review, so any information would be very valuable – please send to eleaine.levi@rbkc.gov.uk.

Pleasingly at a time when not all messages are as positive as they should be, CYP Now has launched For Youth’s Sake, a major national campaign to highlight the importance of young people’s services. To support, please sign the online pledge at www.foryouthssake.co.uk.

Good luck as you help young people to reach their next destinations!
Best wishes,

Chris Heaume
Chief Executive
